The first stop in our journey is Denia, this village is the capital of Marina Alta and has much more than just beautiful beaches. Do you want to know more? Then keep reading! The fisherman tradition of this place is impregnated in every little corner, so what a better way of starting our journey than by checking out the port and the fish market of Baix la Mar. Putting behind us this side of the town we recommend you to visit the castle, and them keep walking to the old town, in this side of Denia one must explore the church of San Antonio de Padua, the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. If you have some extra time, and you are traveling with kids the Toy Museum is a great activity, if this museum is not your thing and you prefer something more adventurous you can always go for a hike to the Natural Park of Montgó.

Los Llanos campsite is a great option for those who want to explore the Denia while still being able to enjoy its beaches.

  • Park and visit Jávea

Jávea has so much to offer to the visitors that it is hard to prioritize all the sightseeing and activities. But, first things firsts, you should start your visit with the fortified church of San Bartolomé has been declared a national monument and there is no wonder why. Surrounding San Bartolomé one can find the town hall and the local food market. Moving on to our next attraction, the port, in here just let the sea breeze full up your lungs and enjoy the beautiful views that the Cape of San Antonio offers. In case you have some extra time checking out the viewpoint of Creu de Portixol is an amazing option, since it offers some of the best views of the city, and the Natural Park of Mazico Montgó.

You can spend the night in the free parking area that is located in the vicinity of the lighthouse, and it is only 4 km away from the city center.

  • Park and visit Altea

Located at the top of a hill, surrounded by the Algar river, and protected by the Sierra de Bernia. As soon as you set foot in the cobbled streets of this you will be able to feel the reminiscences of its Arab past and distinguish three main areas: The first one is located the seashore, in here you will find the beautiful coastal promenade, the port, and the fish market; The second one, expands around the town hall and has a much more commercial feeling; The third one, is the old quarter of Altea, a neighborhood that is dominated by the blue domes of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, once you reach the top you will be rewarded with some of the most beautiful views in the whole city. So, go ahead and start wandering, discover this beautiful town by enjoying the calmness of its streets and the jolliness of its locals.

  • Park and visit Polop de la Marina

We can define Polop de la Marina with just three words: Strenght, struggle, and olive-trees. Located in the central area of Marina Baja, and guarded by the mountain range of Monte Ponoig of almost 2,000 meters and the rivers of Guadalest and Algar, the visitor will see how this town of Iberian origins was once an impregnable territory. However, this place has much more to offer than just a constant history of conflict and struggle, surrounded by hundreds of pine and olive trees, its visitors will be delighted by the church of San Pedro, the sanctuary of the Divine Autora, the ruins of its castle and the medieval city walls among others. So, as you can see Polop de la Marina combines amazing nature, with a rich history, and beautiful architecture. Are you going to miss it?

  • Park and visit Agres

Our next stop is for the nature lovers because Agres is a little village full of charms. But first things first, did you know that this town is guarded by the mountain range of Mariola and that besides the beautiful landscape, the visitor can find the Cava Gran de Agres or wrongfully called the Cava Arquejada, which is nonetheless that a snow pit which dates back to the 15th century, and that has become the main attraction of this natural park. Putting aside all the natural wonders that one can encounter in this place, Agres can offer its visitor a wide range of activities, from its gastronomy and local traditions to several architectonic gems. We recommend visiting the sanctuary of La Virgen del Castillo, and doing the route of its several fountains: the Mig, the Fonteta, the Barxeta, the Raval or the Convent among others.

With less than a 40 minutes’ drive, you can spend the night in the Castalla motorhome area, which has 9 parking slots and a fee of 3€.

  • Park and visit Biar

Did you know that it took 6 months for Jaime I to defeat the back them Moorish city of Biar during the reconquest? If you did not know, once you visit this town you will understand why. With its monumental castle standing at the top a hill, from which you can see every little corner of the Vinalopó valley, this town was a stronghold of the al-Ándalus reign. Throughout the whole city, the visitors can experience its important medieval pasts, some of the finest examples are the arches of San Roque and Jesús, the old gates of Játiva and Castilla, and even the remains of the medieval walls. Additionally, and on the outskirts of town, you can always visit the 17th-century sanctuary of La Virgen de Gracia and the aqueduct of Ojival which dates back to the 15th century.

Visiting Biar is easy you can spend the night in the Alfafara Caper Park which is only a 30 minutes’ drive and has an 18 € fee including water change, sewage drain, and chemical toilet drain.

  • Park and visit Sax  

The last stop of our journey is a real treat. The mountains as a background, this town full of narrow and meandering streets, cannot hide its Moorish origins. Through the city, one will be able to see perfect examples of medieval houses, some beautiful religious buildings like the church of La Asunción, or the hermitage of San Blas. However, it is its castle the one that claims all the attention to the visitors, standing at the top of a boulder, and presiding the whole valley with its enormous towers its one of the three main fortresses of the Vinalopó valley. Sax is also a perfect match for those who are looking for some nature, La Torre or El Plano offer the perfect landscapes for the hike enthusiasts.
